River Run Charolais

Welcome to River Run Charolais

River Run Charolais was established by Len, Pat and Tania Haynes in 2003 on the home property of "Waterford" which is located at Linville in the renowned grazing country in the top end of the Brisabane Valley on the Brisbane River.  This country ranges from fertile river flats to undulating open forest country and mountains.

In the stud operation, our aim is to breed quite, easy finishing, fertile, moderately framed cattle with good muscling.  In addition to our stud sires, we undertake an AI programme each year using bulls that we feel meet this criteria.  Our female lines have been slected from a number of studs focusing on temperament, fertility and maternal ability. A select group of heifers are retained each year and we also offer a small number of females for sale.

Unless being prepared for the show ring, our sale bulls are grown out primarily on natural grasses and irrigated pasture after weaning and are prepared for sale on a bull maintenance pellet leading into the spring.  All bulls are breedplan recorded, genestar tested, vaccinated and semen tested before sale.

The stud herd is run in conjunction with, and under the same conditions as our commercial crossbred herd and females must raise a calf under these conditions each year.  Our stud sires are used over our commercial herd so we are able to gaugehow they are producing first hand with saleyard and meatworks feedback data.

We are commercially focused as the bulk of our operation is weaner and bullock production.  This is where we recognised the true value of using a Charolais - allowing us the option of either market.  Our Charolais cross weaners are often sought after through the saleyards with the majority being purchased by feedlots and our bullocks finish easily on improved scrub country for the Export market at milk - four teeth.

We are committed to the breeding of quality Charolais cattle for the long term.

We hope you enjoy our website.
